This is a pattern for a pencil roll.

It holds 24 pencils but the style of the pattern means you can add more or less depending on what you want to put in.

I have also used this pattern for crochet hooks but tend to use a less bulky yarn as you will want the hole in the middle of the star stitch to be tighter.

The weight of the yarn and size of hook is less important for this project so feel free to experiment.

As long as you are creating enough stars for the number of items you want to include, that is all you need to think about.
