Choose all your favorite speckled yarns and knit the large shlanket (shawl + blanket) of your dreams or select three colors for a small version. Short row wedges with colorful stripes form the starburst shape. Pick up stitches and knit along the border to accentuate the jagged edge. A tiny cable completes the shawl with a decorative finish.

Errata for Printed Copy (Westknits Bestknits 1):

If you are knitting the large size of Starburst, there should be a “place marker” instruction at the beginning of the “Large Size Only” Instructions on page 5.

On the final page, the small size stitch count pick up should read “29 times” instead of 36 times for the pick up.

“Using color C and with RS facing, pick up and k into selvedge starting at the corner near the live sts. (Pick up and k1 selvedge st, m1) 29 times for Small Size or 20 times for Large Size. “

When binding off on the WS at the end of SECTION 3, (k2, k2tog tbl, sl3 sts onto left needle) until all 10 sts are bound off.

These corrections are reflected in our new PDF starburst_4.pdf.
