These fingerless mitts are made from a combination of crochet ribbing and the impressive-looking but deceptively easy star stitch. The simple stripes and star stitch combine to make the gloves appear much more complicated than they really are.

The two highly textured stitches create a thick fabric that will really keep your hands warm. The ribbing at the top can be folded back to free up your fingers if you need to use them, so you don’t need to take off the mitts. This makes them ideal for when you’re out shopping or for a cold Monday morning in the office.

The aran-weight yarn crochets up quickly. It’s available in many different colours so you can personalise the mitts by choosing your two favourites - or even three or four. Why not try them in red, white and blue to match the name? Instructions are given for small, medium and large, measured by circumference of the hand.
