Written for two sizes and designed to show off an extra-special skein of yarn, Starting Point is a practical and versatile accessory. Beginning with a provisional cast-on, the cowl is worked flat and grafted to form a loop. Specifications for customizing length and width are included.

Suggested Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, #819 Beginning (100% superwash wool, 113g, 225yd/206m).
Note: The knit sample required a full skein, but the pattern is adjustable for any worsted/aran weight yarns you may choose. Semisolid or speckled colorways are recommended.

Gauge: 24 stitches x 27 rows to 4”/10 cm in slip-stitch pattern.

Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm), circular or straight needles.

Notions: stitch marker, tapestry needle, waste yarn and spare needle for provisional cast-on.

Dimensions: Long and Narrow Size: 43” x 5.5” (110 x 14 cm).
Short and Wide Size: 25.5” x 9” (65 x 23 cm).
The Long/Narrow size will loop twice around your next, while the Short/Wide size is worn as a traditional cowl.
