All of us have stash. Whether it was a pretty skein that we thought would inspire us, or a project that didn’t work out, we find ourselves with a collection of odd skeins and wonder what on earth we can do with them. This shawlette/shawl is designed to bust through that stash and not only leave you a stash lighter, but pleasantly surprised with the resulting project. This is an EASY first shawl. Two rows are repeated until you have only enough yarn left to bind off. The options are endless once you get the hang of it. I have also found that it is the perfect pattern for a quick knit gift.

Skill Level
Beginner. This shawl is easy enough for the beginner even as a first project. Along with the garter stitch rows are three simple stitches. A simple chart allows the knitter to decide yarn and needle size. The shawl is adaptable to a larger size by adding more yarn.
Materials, Gauge, Size
This shawl is an asymmetrical shawl. The finished size should be approximately 114cm by 40 cm (45in by 16in) for the smaller size shawlette that requires 200g of yarn. A larger shawl can be made by increasing the amount of yarn used.

This pattern was designed with 200g of yarn in any weight desired. The purple sample shawl was working with 200g fingering weight yarn held double (or DK weight) on a 4mm needle. The cream shawl is 200g of bulky weight yarn using 10mm needle. Other yarn suggestions are included in the pattern notes.
