Stashbusting granny square cushion
A great pattern for using up left over yarn. This pattern is made up of two granny squares, using as many
colours as you like, though the striped block pattern needs at least four colours. Unlike the traditional
granny square, in this pattern there are no spaces, instead it is a modern square block.
Measurements
To fit a 14” square cushion inner. To fit a different size, add or remove rounds.
4 ply - you can use any yarn but my example uses Schjeepes riverwashed and stonewashed
Dk - you can use any yarn but my example uses a mixture or merino and acrylic
This cushion can be made in any yarn you’ve got lying around though I recommend using yarn that works
to a similar tension for the same side. One side was made in 4 ply yarn and the other in dk yarn. Both
sides have the same number of rounds. For chunkier or finer yarn you may need to change hook size and
the number of rounds to get the same size.
I have changed colour at each corner and for some rounds halfway along the each side too. You can
change colour whenever you want depending on how much yarn you have but remember this will
change the look of the cushion.
When joining the two cushion sides together use whichever hook size is most appropriate for the yarn. I used 4ply for half and dk for the other half with a 3mm hook all round.
