This is a cardigan that’s almost as easy to knit as a shawl (uses about the same yardage as some shawls) and fits most people up to size US12/UK16 well.

The colour work is the easiest possible type - you basically knit stripes, with some slipped stitches on the RS - all WS rows are just purl.

The cardigan was originally designed to use a single skein of special yarn (fingering weight) to make it budget-friendly
- the idea was to use a reasonably-priced DK or worsted yarn as the MC and a single skein of more expensive special yarn as the CC.

This works if you are up to size US12/UK16 and don’t increase the body length (you can increase sleeve length according to the yarn you have).

If not, you’ll probably need more than a single skein of CC.

Scales can be handy if you’ll be cutting it close. ☻

Approx. yarn allowance for original size:

MC: 600 - 700m (DK or worsted)
CC: 400m (DK, sport or sock/fingering)

One of the testers got her teenage daughter who normally lives in hoodies to model it - and it immediately got adopted and wasn’t taken off for the whole day !! ☻

It turns out the adaptations I made to accommodate a large chest make for a slouchy fit that slimmer young people seem to like (5 of my 13 cardigans have been adopted and are much worn by young ladies in their 20s).
