Statue of Liberty
Here at TOFT, we are thrilled to capture one of the most iconic and recognisable figures in the world in crochet form – the Statue of Liberty! A symbol of freedom, inspiration and hope, Lady Liberty is teeming with symbolism – from her crown which represents light, to the tablet she holds inscribed with July 4 1776 in Roman numerals to note American independence, to the broken shackle and chains at her feet to mark the abolition of slavery – all ideals that inspired the Frenchman Édouard de Laboulaye and sculptor Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi to create the colossal structure and present it to the people of the United States as a gift.
This crochet Statue of Liberty doll is a truly remarkable tribute to a national treasure and makes a perfect souvenir project, whether you’ve travelled to New York to visit Lady Liberty herself or not!
