Steamboat Cheer
For those of you who don’t know, Steamboat Springs sends more Olympians to the Winter Olympics than any other town in America. We love snowy cold winter sports and rejoice with each new nordic and alpine skiing event! However, you’ve got to have something useful to keep yourself warm at these events, and a way to cheer (since clapping in mittens is futile at best).
Here’s our solution: a scarf with mittens built in! We wanted red, white and blue to show our Olympic pride and what better way to show our appreciation for the athletes than a series of happy cowbells across the wrists? Their jingle-jangle rings across the snow and takes the place of clapping just like their larger versions which have been used for years (listen for them at the Nordic events)!
We knitted the scarf using the brioche stitch for lofty softness and the mittens using a firmer stockinette for protection from the cold.
Keep warm and cheer our hometown heroes on, at the Olympics or at home!
