Stefano the Shark
Stefano is everyone’s favourite baby shark! Cute, quick to make and there’s nothing blue about him at all.
Stefano the Shark is a part of my Baby Sea Creatures collection – there’s six cute designs available as individual patterns or as an e-book. A special thanks for Hobium Yarns who sponsored the yarn for the collection, I’ve used Hello Knitting Yarn (DK Cotton) for all the designs. It has a huge range of colours and is a great price also!
Stefano is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Stefano is approx. 11cm long, 9cm tall.
You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).
You will need:
- 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK – 50g BLUE and GREY
- BLACK and WHITE 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
- A pair of 9mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- I’ve used Hello Knitting Yarn (DK Cotton) in the following colours: o BLUE = Baby Blue 147 o GREY = Grey 174
- I have used safety eyes but you may choose to embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
