Stereoisomer Sock
The Stereoisomer Socks pattern is a charted slip-stitch mosaic pattern consisting of an 8-stitch repeat. The pattern is written for toe-up socks using magic loop with an afterthought heel.
This pattern is written for the sock knitter who is familiar with sock construction but has not attempted to introduce color work to a sock pattern.
It is recommended to use colors that are in contrast with each other in order to ensure the colors will not be absorbed by the color work.
Yarn: Fingering weight yarn. The sample sock used approximately 35 g of each color for a total of approximately 280 yards total.
Yardage may vary based upon length of sock and color selection for heel, toe, and cuff.
Gauge: 8.5 stitches/inch (stockinette, unblocked), 9 stitches/inch (mosaic, unblocked)
Needles: US Size 1 2.25mm or any size needle needed to meet gauge requirements for the pattern. The pattern is written to use the Magic Loop Method and a cord length of 32” or greater is recommended.
Finished size (approx..): S (6.2”), M (7.1”), L (8”).
Please keep in mind that socks require a snug fit because they stretch over the course of wear, therefore you want the finished sock measurement to be less than your measured foot circumference. The sample sock was knit in a 64-stitch medium to fit EU size 39
