This design is the second of a series—twelve explorations of different stitch patterns throughout 2026—and the second of three projects focused on eyelets and lace. This month, we’re working a variation of feather and fan—a simple ripple stitch. The pattern document includes general instructions for working the ripple stitch pattern flat and in the round, as well as specific instructions for a sample square, and a baby blanket. You’ll also find instructions for working this stitch pattern two different ways (centered on the eyelets or on the decreases), and for scaling the pattern up or down to make larger or smaller ripples.

The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete this project are:

• k2tog or ssk decrease.
