Storsand socks
The Storsand socks are knitted from the cuff down towards the toes. They are started with an optional tubular cast on which provides a stretchy edge to the cuff. The heel flaps are knitted with a reinforced stitch pattern for durability and the heels are round French heels. Instructions are given for modifying the gusset for a more generous fit.
The Storsand socks are designed for leftover skeins of sock yarn. You can work them in three colors as written, alternate just two colors for the stripes or work each stripe in a different color. Options are endless, and you could even work them in just one color. The socks look best in solid or slightly variegated colors for the stitch pattern to show in its full glory.
Storsand means “the big sand”. The Storsand socks were named after a beach in my childhood hometown. The lace stripes of the socks remind me of the patterns waves make when they hit the sandy beaches.
