Streamline Moderne
This easy bottom-up garter stitch shawl has scalloped edges highlighted by stripes. The curves and stripes were inspired by the lines of Streamline Moderne architecture. The colors of Streamline Moderne buildings range from simple monochrome schemes to the more brilliant examples seen in Miami Beach, and so can the shawl!
Both shawl samples used only two colors, but you can incorporate as many as you’d like. Since the shawl is worked from the bottom up, just work until you’re out of yarn or the shawl is big enough!
Although the samples were knit in sport & worsted weight yarns, this pattern is also suitable for most yarns from fingering to worsted weight.
Green sport weight sample used: Outlaw Yarns Bohemia Sport (45% Polwarth/45% Alpaca/10% Possum, 182 yds/166 m in 50g), 2 skeins Leather, 3 skeins Absinthe
Blue/white worsted weight sample used: Clara Yarn Cormo 1.0 (100% Cormo, 155 yds/142 m in 94g), 1 skein Natural, 2 skeins Sapphire
Gauge:
Sport: 17.5 sts/36 rows in 4” garter stitch
