These convertible mitts are both pretty and practical—flip the mitten top down for fingerless mitts when dexterity is needed, and then flip the top back up to keep the whole hand toasty.
The easy cross pattern helps to break up pooling, which makes these mitts a perfect choice for your favorite variegated yarn!

SIZES
Small (Medium, Large). Shown in size Small.
Palm circumference: 6.5 (7.75, 8.75)“ or 16.5 [19, 22] cm
Length with mitten top down: 7.75 (8, 8.25)“ or 19.5 [20.5, 21] cm
Length with mitten top up: 10.5 (10.75, 11.25)“ or 26.5 [27.5, 28.5] cm
MATERIALS NEEDED
Yarn:
Malabrigo Yarn Rios (100% merino; 210yds/192m per 100g skein): 1 skein in Arco Iris
Recommended needles (check gauge and change sizes if needed):
US #5 [3.75 mm] double-pointed needles, set of 4 or 5
Notions:
3 stitch markers (at least one of them the removable type), waste yarn, yarn needle
GAUGE
22 sts/30 rows = 4 in/10 cm in stockinette stitch
PATTERN NOTES

The mitts are worked at a slightly tighter gauge than usual for worsted weight yarn for extra durability.

Mitts can be lengthened or shortened easily by adding or subtracting rounds before or after the thumb gusset (but keep in mind that this will change the amount of yarn required).
