I designed this collar to celebrate International Women’s Day. I wanted a small piece that could be knitted almost in an afternoon since time is something that women do not usually have too much of.
Inspired by the buttons on the suffragettes’ boots, I put this motif of small bubbles and a tassel as a reminder of the banners and banners they carried in the early demonstrations 20th century.

Notes on construction

The cowl is knitted from bottom to top. You will work an inverted triangle. Then we join to start knitting in the circular. It has a “pattern” of bubbles arranged in the shape of a rhombus along the entire neck and is finished with a tassel to give the effect of a banner.

Materials

Yarn:

266 m / 290 yd of fingering weight yarn.

Remember that this information is an approximation and that the total use of yarn depends on the type of fibre you use, the brand, your tension or any modification you can make.
The yardage for both versions is the same.

Suggested Yarn:

The sample is knitted with 1 skein in Reverence colour (Limited edition colour for International Women’s Day 2020)
by BramBles & Me, 100% SW Bluefaced Leicester, 4ply (100g / 400m; 23 oz / 437yd).

Needles:

3.75 mm / 40 cm size US 5 / 16 “ circular needles or the required needle size to obtain the correct gauge.

For the bandana version it is recommended to use circular needles of 4.5 mm / 40 cm US size 6/16 “ or the thickness necessary to obtain the correct tension.

Otros accessories:

Tapestry or crochet needle to wave off ends and stitch markers.

Gauge

32 sts and 24 rows= 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 “ in stockinette stitch worked FLAT with the thickest needles, after blocking.

Diseñé este cuello para celebrar el Día internacional de la mujer y pensando en una pieza pequeña que se pudiera tejer casi en una tarde porque el tiempo, es algo que no suele sobrarnos a las mujeres.
Inspirada por los botones de las botas de los sufragistas le puse este motivo de pequeños bodoques y una borla como recuerdo de los pendones y pancartas que ellas llevaban en las manifestaciones de principios del siglo XX.
