This skirt pattern, along with the Summer Vixens Top, accompanies the Special Topics in Finishing article on rolled borders. Worked from the bottom up with circular needles, the first three rounds of the skirt are purled to create reverse stockinette which rolls to the wrong side. This matches the borders on the top.

Lace panels are separated by stockinette stitch panels where decreases are worked to shape the skirt. To me, the motifs look like fox heads, hence the name.

The pattern sizing reflects “standard” size measurements but you can “customize” the fit. Find the size closest to your hip measurements and then look at the waist measurement. If you need it to be larger, simply work fewer decreases than specified.

The waistband demonstrates a technique for grafting live stitches to the skirt. If the stitches for the waistband are bound off, it may be difficult to pull the skirt over the hips. A casing for elastic is worked but seaming it would be very inelastic. Instead, the stitches are left live and grafted to the inside of the waistband.
