Summerisle
Often people say that shawls are difficult to wear. I set out to design a shawl that was as practical and easy to wear as it is beautiful. Meet Summerisle.
The shawl uses two different textures — one lace/cable combination that pops in handdyed yarn; the other an open lace stitch that flows effortlessly — separated by easy eyelets and finished by a picot cast-off.
I made sure to balance the stitch patterns to make the resulting shawl wearable and decidedly non-fussy.
Summerisle uses one of my favourite shawl constructions — the humble triangular shape — and I chose a handdyed yarn with subtle, yet rich variegation to showcase the stitch patterns.
Instructions for upsizing the shawl are included. The pattern is charted.
