Sunburst Cable Cardigan
It’s a lovely story, but quite a long one, especially for those of you who have been following from the very beginning. I’ll give you the short version. Carol Jayne’s daughter, Josephine, found a picture of a sweater online and asked her mom, “Can you knit this for me?” Carol Jayne searched in vain for a pattern. At a loss she turned to the helpful community at Knitting Paradise and asked on one of the chat boards, “Does anyone recognize this pattern?” Hundreds of knitters joined in a month long search for information about the cardigan to no avail. A knitting pattern for the sweater didn’t exist.
Knitting designer Erica Patberg, was intrigued by the design, and excited by the challenge of writing a pattern that captured the spirit of the original sweater. It’s now available for you to knit!
The cabled body is worked sideways in one piece with short row shaping for the waist. The left and right cardigan fronts are worked separately and sewn on to the body. It’s a gorgeous sweater, that knits up quickly and the radiating cables are very flattering on all shapes and sizes.
