Marnie’s lace scarf is shown in two versions. The mill-spun version is made with my Cormo Alpaca Lace. The high percentage of alpaca (40%) counterbalances the springy Cormo wool. This gives the scarf nice drape, keeps the lace design open and well defined, but still has the Cormo memory, so it won’t stretch out of shape with wear.

The hand-dyed, hand-spun version is named for Sundance, my sweet but sometimes naughty Angora buck, and made from the yearling clips of Sundance and his brother and partner in crime, Butch. Unlike the mill-spun version, the mohair version has luster and a distinct halo.

The carefree style of this lace scarf makes it a perfect accent with a sweater or jean jacket. Using only one skein, the scarf is lightweight yet warm.

Like most lace, this scarf needs to be fully blocked upon completion. I recommend gently washing the finished scarf and pinning it out while it is still wet. -- Barbara Parry, from Adventures in Yarn Farming
