Sundance Tote
Try this large, colorful tote bag made with tapestry crochet. The front and back square panels are worked in the round with stitches worked over the nonworking color, and the sides are embroidered with surface slip stitch.
Difficulty Some concentration required.
Finished Size About 16” wide at top and 13.5” high, excluding handles.
Yarn Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran (100% cotton; 93 yd / 1.75 oz): #602 pure black (A), 3 skeins; #627 slate green (B), 2 skeins; #616 red wine (C) and #603 champagne white (D), 1 skein each.
Hook Size 7 (4.5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions Yarn needle; 12” x 1.25” strips of corrugated plastic, 2.
Gauge 16 sts = 4” and 4 rnds = 4” in diameter.
Notes Bag consists of 2 squares (front and back) worked separately in rounds. Both squares are worked in multiple colors using tapestry double crochet technique.
