This hat is part of an ongoing tribute to the value of public broadcasting.
Skill Level: Adventurous beginner; the hat is worked in-the-round, with basic lace stitches and “rest” rounds.
Yarn: Approximately 120-160 yards (110-150m) of sport weight yarn. The hat pictured is a size large and used approx. 150 yards of Pediboo Sport in the color “yellow”
Needles: Sizes US3 (3.25mm) and US5 (3.75mm) circular needles (DPNs or Magic Loop will suffice)
Tools: Tape measure, stitch marker, scissors, and tapestry needle
Gauge: 24 stitches and 36 rounds per 4 inches or 10 cm worked in stockinette
Sizing: Small (Medium, Large, Extra-large) sizes will fit a child’s head(teen head, small adult head, large adult head). Sizing is loose as the hat is very elastic, and will stretch to fit.
Abbreviations:
K= knit
P= purl
YO= yarn over
CDD= Centered Double Decrease (slip 2 as though to knit two together, knit one, pass the slipped stitches over)
