Do you have 2 specials skeins of fingering or DK weight yarn that need to be knit together? I did. I wanted to knit a lovely shawl that would showcase the beautiful speckles and tonal nature of a hand-dyed yarn. Thus, Sunrise Bay was born.

It was so much fun that I knit again! Adding DK weight solids to the mix!

Sunrise Bay, named for pink and purple streaks of dawn shining on a Caribbean inlet, is all you could want in a lightweight shawl. It’s got loads of garter stitch, interspersed with interesting bits of texture and eyelets. And it’s all wrapped up with a gorgeous bit of simple lace that makes the whole thing simply stunning. It’s a treat to knit and to wear!

320 yds/292 m (245 yds/225 m) of MC & 192 yds/175 m (140 yds/130 m) of CC in fingering (DK) weight

Suggested Yarn:
La Bien Aimee Merino Singles (100% Merino Wool) 400 yds/366 m, 100 g - 1 skien each of Waterlillies (MC) & Vespa Graffiti (CC)
(I recommend using your speckles and stripes as your MC and your semi-solids as your CC, because CC is where all the pretty stitches happen!)
DK weight: Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud DK (100% Baby Alpaca) 123 yds/112 m, 50 g - 2 skeins each of Collette (MC) & Lewis (CC) (And with a simple mod, you can get your CC down to only 1 50g skein!)

US 7/4.50 mm – 24” circulars or needles needed to obtain gauge!
