Sunset colors meet a beautiful, textural stitch in the Sunset Fields Crochet Baby Blanket! This two-row repeat is super easy to memorize and creates a beautiful fabric.

Much of the blanket is worked in single crochet, so this is not a quickie pattern, but it is a super relaxing stitch that you can unwind with.

The project is finished off with a variation on single crochet called the waistcoat stitch, or center single crochet, which creates a knit-like texture.

Special Stitches

Field Stitch: Insert your hook three rows below the st you just completed, yo, pull up a loop to the height of the current row, sk one st, insert your hook three rows below the next stitch, yo, pull up a loop to the height of the current row, yo, pull through all three loops. Note that this st is worked across 3 sts 2 rows below but it only takes the place of one st on the active row. So it doesn’t happen IN the next st, but it sits above the next st.

Waistcoat Stitch: Insert your hook in the center of the v that makes up the body of the sc below. Yo and pull up a loop. You will have 2 loops on your hook. Yo and pull through both loops.

Before blocking: 31″ x 31″ with border | 28″ x 28″ before border

After blocking: 31″ x 32″ with border | 28″ x 29″ before border

Note that superwash wool often stretches more vertically after blocking.
