Knitting instruction for the SUNSET Shetland Lace Cardigan

This airy oversize cardigan is loosely knitted in Shetland Lace technique. The SUNSET cardigan has dropped shoulders with shortened rows, a boxy shape and a sheer look. It is the ideal companion over tank top & jeans or with a beautiful summer dress. This Shetland lace pattern is a true delight for experienced laceknitters.

I recommend a light summer yarn of cotton, viscose, bamboo, linen, silk or an appropriate blended yarn. I worked 2-ply in silk and linen viscose yarn for the cardigan in the pictures. Needed yarn: about 180 g yarn run 400-450 m / 100 g for size S/M and for size L/XL about 230 g yarn run 300-350 m / 100 g.

Other materials needed: knitting needles size 4.0 mm for the body of the cardigan, needles size 3.0 and 3.5 mm for the cuffs, crochet hook 4 mm, sewing needle, stitch marker.

The yarn used in the original cardigan is Manifattura Sesia ANGEL, 100 % Silk, Nm 30.000 and Ilaria Calenzano Gabicce, Linen, Viscose Col. 00000, Nm 5.000. I bought this yarn years ago and I have a lot of it on stock, if you desire to have it, please contact me and take the shipping cost from Germany in mind.

Details about the yarns for sizes L/XL and XXL/XXXL:

For size 40 (L/XL) I recommend the following yarns:

Approx. 320 g with sleeves (approx. 970/1,000 m yarn), approx. 230 g as a vest (approx. 750 m yarn, run length 300-350 m / 100 g, knitted with needles 4.0 mm, if you knit tight also 4.5 mm, the cuff with 3.0 mm needles.

1. summer silk from Landlust. Fine & light cotton silk yarn, soft and slightly mottled. Composition: 50% silk and 50% cotton Presentation: round ball, run length approx. 170m / 50g ball

2nd Infinity Hearts Orchid 100% bamboo yarn, beautiful silky sheen.
Composition: 100% bamboo fiber
approx. 185m / 50g-ball

The SUNSET Cardigan as a tutorial is fairly new, so I’m just starting to try out the different yarns I have in mind.
I’m currently on my 4th SUNSET Cardigan, this time in size XXL/XXXL, knit with needles 4.5mm using 370g of Emma Fassio’s LJUV yarn. It will be beautiful, I can only recommend this yarn for large sizes.

Strickanleitung für den SUNSET Shetland Lace Cardigan

Dieser luftige Oversize Cardigan ist locker in Shetland-Lacetechnik gestrickt. Der SUNSET Cardigan hat überschnittene Schultern mit verkürzten Reihen, eine kastige Form und einen transparenten Look. Er ist der ideale Begleiter über Tanktop & Jeans oder zu einem schönen Sommerkleid. Die Anleitung ist für erfahrene Lacestrickerinnen geeignet. Das Shetland-Lacemuster wird in Hin- und Rückreihen gemustert und ist deswegen besonders anspruchsvoll.

Ich empfehle ein leichtes Sommergarn aus Baumwolle, Viskose, Bambus, Leinen, Seide oder ein entsprechendes Mischgarn. Ich habe für den ärmellosen Cardigan (Größe S/M) auf den Bildern 2-fädig in Seide und Leinen-Viskosegarn gearbeitet. Benötigtes Garn: ungefähr 180 g Garn Lauflänge 400-450 m / 100 g für Größe S/M und für Größe L/XL ungefähr 230 g Garn Lauflänge 300-350 m / 100 g.

Details zu den Garnen für die Größen L/XL und XXL/XXXL:

Der SUNSET Cardigan als Anleitung ist recht neu, also ich bin gerade erst dabei, die verschiedenen Garne, die ich mir vorstelle, auszuprobieren.
Ich bin momentan bei meinem 4. SUNSET Cardigan, diesmal in Größe XXL/XXXL, gestrickt mit Nadeln 4,5 mm aus 370 g Garn LJUV von Emma Fassio. Er wird wunderschön, ich kann dieses Garn für große Größen nur empfehlen.

Weiteres benötigtes Material: Stricknadeln Größe 4,0 mm für den Jackenkörper, Nadeln Größe 3,0 und 3,5 mm für die Bündchen, Häkelnadel 4 mm, Nähnadel, Maschenmarker.
