Sunwick is a cosy cowl, made in Shetland double knit yarn and captures a geometric simplicity which is inspired by the lines, patterns, textures and contrasting colours of the urban environment. It makes for a relaxing stranded knit with the addition of an optional contrast edging. It works up fast in DK yarn and will fight the fiercest of Shetland winds.

The pattern was first published in the 2017 edition of Wool Tribe, Festival Companion by the Edinburgh Yarn Company.
The downloadable pattern has been updated to include two larger sizes, providing the knitter with a total of three size options. The original navy, natural and ochre cowl is size small, the grey version featured is size medium.

The 2-colour patterned section is bordered by rolls of stocking stitch adding an interesting texture to the garment. The cowl is knit in the round starting with the central “roll” of the edging. The main part of the cowl is then knit ending with the top border. Stitches are picked up from the top and bottom edges at the beginning of the central roll and the final sections knit to complete the cowl.

The original featured in the Wool Tribe publication was knit in Aalmerk Uradale DK Organic Shetland yarn.

The grey version is knit in Langsoond 100% Shetland Double Knit yarn.
