SURRIS is a portmanteau of the words Suri and Cirrus. This shawl is inspired by the wispy nature of cirrus clouds and is imaginged in soft, semi-translucent lace weight suri alpaca.

Surris is a modified crescent shaped shawl. It is worked top down, beginning with an elongated garter tab cast-on. Single yarn over increases are made at each end of every row to create the crescent shape. The shawl is constructed with a simple rhythmic repeat of short row sections, knit with laceweight fluff and punctuated with simple rows of garter stitch in fingering weight yarn. Find one skein of fingering weight yarn with good meterage and use up scraps of laceweight yarn to knit each section in a different colour.
