Sutton Hoo Mittens
These mittens were inspired by the patterns on some silver bowls found at the Sutton Hoo Ship Burial site in England. There’s also a matching cowl pattern.
For the matching cowl depending on how I look at it, sometimes the stars stand out, and sometimes the circles stand out. For the mittens, there are charts with the circles centred and charts with the stars centred. The choice is yours!
These fingerless mittens work up quickly with two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn. Going from a solid color of ribbing to stranded knitting, then swapping the colors and finishing up with solid ribbing gives them the feel of a fade with only two colors.
Do you want full mittens instead? That’s an easy modification and there are notes in the pattern to guide you through the process.
The pattern has 3 sizes and each uses up to 50g in each of two colors.
An automatic discount of $2 will be applied when buying both the cowl and the mittens.
