This pattern was originally published as Knotty Lamb’s contribution to the 2020 Rose City Yarn Crawl in Portland, Oregon. The pattern is also part of the 2020 Pattern Collection: Birds of the Pacific Northwest.

This beautiful and playful design was inspired by the Rose City Yarn Crawl 2020 theme of Birds of the Pacific Northwest. The Violet Green Swallow is a native of the Pacific Northwest. This bird with its brightly colored plumage was the basis for the multiple textural flows in my design. As with my other crochet designs this is in US crochet terms. I tried to capture a modern look using the stitches chosen. The sections ebb and flow uniquely to show the movement of this lovely bird in flight. Crocheted all in one piece, the sections switch direction to build in unique patterns that capture different and fun ways to play with movement. I cannot wait to see what this bird inspires in your pieces. As always use your imagination and be inspired by all that is lovely around you!
