This hat is designed to be the perfect gender neutral baby hat! I designed it as a gift for sweet friends who were waiting till delivery to find out the sex of their baby. Sweet as can be and looks equally good on new baby boys and girls (plus, it’s way more fun than the blue and pink hat they give you at the hospital!) This project comes together so make a whole stack so you’re ready for your next baby shower.

Color C: 2 yard (2 meters)/.04 oz (1 gram)
Color D: 3 yards (3 meters)/.07 oz (2 grams)
Original model made using Big Twist Premium yarn in Lead (Color A), Snow (Color B), Cocoa (Color C), and Shamrock (Color D)
Because Colors C and D require such small amounts, this is a great project for leftover worsted weight yarn

GAUGE
With size 9 (5.5 mm) needles in stockinette stitch, 16 sts x 24 rows= 4 in (10 cm)

SPECIAL STITCHES
S2KPO: Slip 2 stitches together knitwise, knit 1 stitch, pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knit stitch. This will create a centered double decrease.
I-cord This method will allow you to create a thin stretchy cord. For this project, the cord will be coiled to create roses. Using DPNs, CO three sts and knit them. Without turning work, move the needle with the stitches on it to your left hand. Slide sts to the far right side of your needle and knit them again. Continue in the manner until i-cord reaches the length called for in the pattern.
