The hat measures about 21 inches (52 centimeters) around the bottom edge and about 24 inches (60 centimeters) at its widest part. It measures about 9 inches 
(23 centimeters) from the bottom to the top.

You can use remnants for the pattern colour and you need a ball of 50 gram background colour in a yarn that has a yardage of about 420 yards/100 grams.
