Swirly, Twirly Tam
… this tam knits up quickly but looks saucy and sophisticated once finished. Shown in Universal Yarn’s Poems Silk (which is 75% wool and 25% silk in “All the Way” colorway), this tam starts at the top tab and works out and down to the 1-1/2” ribbing and uses approx. 100 yards of worsted weight yarn.
You could use any worsted wool yarn, self-striping or solid. A bit of a halo makes the hat really look great.
If you want to make a different size just stop at the appropriate diameter, work 2-3 inches even, then dec one-third and do rib:
baby (0-6m): 8”
toddler (12-18m): 9”
child (2-8yo): 10”
teen - adult sm: 11”
adult med: 12”
for larger size tam, more yarn will be needed (the adult med took just about all the skein).
