Swiss
Inspired by the use of negative space and dramatic colours, Swiss is just the shawl you need to round out your collection. Experience lace in the most minimalist way, these big holes will inspire while still keeping you warm and fashionable.
Knit using 2 strands of a fingering weight yarn, Swiss knits up in a flash! The squishy nature of the garter stitch keeps this piece dense and beautiful while the evenly interspersed holes give the fabric a flow and malleability.
With a simple, memorable, pattern repeat, this shawl is just the thing when you’re in the mood for some “popcorn knitting”. By the end of Swiss you will be the master of the one-row button hole.
Yarn:
Yardage:
300 grams of the main colour, 100 grams of the contrasting colour
Hedgehog Fibers, Sock, 90%Merino, 10%Nylon 400m/100g
MC: Ghost, Juniper, Salty tales
CC: Pucker
I chose yarn based on single skeins I had around the stash. starting with 3 skeins of a similar tone and then fourth skein in a completely different colour. through out the shawl the yarn is held double, I used a scale to figure out when to change colours, because all my yarn was in 100g put ups, this is how I broke it down so that the sections used similar quantities of yarn:
A+A: 75g
A+B: 25g + 25g
B+B: 50g
B+C: 25g + 25g
C+C: 75g
Staggering the colour changes keeps a more coherent flow and makes a more subtle fade.
Needles and notions:
4 mm circular needles or size to obtain gauge, I used 40”/100cm cable.

Tapestry needle
