This is a simple and unique blanket, made using the Filet technique of crochet mixed with the traditional granny square. This pattern is written in US and UK terms. Just download whichever version you prefer. It is such an addictive technique to use as you slowly see the pattern emerging with each finished row.

It uses DK yarn. You can use any to suit your preference but this will alter the size of your blanket. It uses approximately 500g of yarn. 100g for each colour chosen for the squares and 100g for joining and the border. This project is also great for stash busting and would look great as a multicoloured blanket, using a different colour for each square.

I used:
100g of Stylecraft Special DK in Cornish Blue (Colour A)
100g of Stylecraft Special DK in Aspen (Colour B)
100g of Stylecraft Special DK in Silver (Colour C)
200g of Stylecraft Special DK in White (Colour D)

If using DK yarn a 4.0mm crochet hook is required, and scissors and a tapestry needle are also needed to complete this project. Stitch markers are helpful but optional.

A larger blanket will need more yarn.

If following this pattern your finished blanket will be approximately 36 inches by 36 inches and each square is approximately 4 inches by 4 inches

The pattern consists of written instructions as well as a chart. There is also a link to my YouTube tutorial to help. There are instructions on how to amend the size of the blanket too.
