Sylph
Delicate as gossamer and more intricate than the most sophisticated spider’s web, even the dainty fairies of myth would marvel at its craftspersonship. A worthy challenge and heirloom-quality accomplishment for even the most experienced knitter. The name Sylph is short for Les Sylphides, a short “ballet blanc” choreographed by Michel Fokine and with music by Frederic Chopin.
Sylph is a circle shawl with instructions for half , three-quarters, and full circle versions. With beads, nupps, hex mesh, and over 200 rows of non-repeating lace, this shawl has it all.
Gauge Swatch: 39 sts inc to 57 sts and 72 rows = 8.5” at CO edge increasing to 10” at Row 72” x 9” tall, over gauge swatch, blocked
This pattern is fully charted.
CHART ERRATA for KnitPicks release:
Chart on page 39, row 11 should read K, \0/, K. If you look at the sister chart on page 40 you can also see the correct stitches. Sorry for any confusion!
Page 40-41, Charts A1 and A2, rows 18, 28, 30, 34, and 74: The final stitch (right edge of each section) of each of these return rows is a grey “no stitch” and should be a square (knit on RS row and purl on WS row.) As you finish each return row section you will purl that stitch.
Currently unavailable through KnitPicks, I am working on updating the pattern file and posting it here.
