Syrinx Hat & Infinity Cowl
Syrinx aruanus is a species of a giant sea mollusk found off the coast of Australia, which is remarkable not only for its enormous size but also for the architectural beauty of its shell. The shell forms a perfect spiral with very distinctive ridges, which I wanted to capture in this design.
The spiraling lace pattern is formed with yarn overs paired with basic decreases; it is easy to memorize and suitable even for a beginner lace knitter. The pattern includes beads for a little unexpected sparkle (200 6/0 4.00 mm seed beads total: 144 for cowl, 56 for hat), but the addition of the beads is completely optional.
The lace pattern is elastic and the accessories are stretchy enough to accommodate a large range of sizes; however, the size of both can be customized just by working extra repeats of the lace pattern. Practical and elegant, quick and easy to knit, this set of accessories will keep you warm throughout the wintry days.
