This is the first design in the Celtic Cable Shawls collection.

More info about Celtic Cable Shawls on my website…

A top-down triangular shawl inspired by beautiful Celtic knot-work, and worked in hand-dyed fingering weight/4-ply yarn. The intricate edging features twisted rib and eyelets. Two sizes are given, but the size of the shawl can be increased if you have extra yarn (the sample shown in the photographs is in the larger size).

Please note that the cables are worked on a background of reverse garter stitch, which makes for a lot of purling. Some of the cables are worked on the WS, so this pattern requires some concentration to complete.

If you’d like to try this pattern, but are unsure if it’s beyond your skill level, I would recommend attempting my free pattern Nennir first - this pattern uses many of the same cable techniques as Nennir, just on a bigger scale.

  • Garter tab beginning using a provisional cast-on
  • Some patterning on WS rows
  • Twisted rib stitches
