This design was inspired by the tamarisk tree in bloom, when its flowers are so profuse that they completely transform the plant from green to pink. Reminiscent of the branches covered in tiny blossoms, a simple linear lace forms the body of the shawl and flows seamlessly into the more elaborate borders featuring stylized leaf shapes.

The stole is worked from a provisional cast on at the center down to both edges without the need for complicated grafting. Easy to knit and easy to wear as a stole or a scarf, Tamarisk is a great one-skein project perfect for gift knitting.

Miss Babs Killington (85% Polwarth Wool, 15% Tussah Silk; 700 yards/640 meters/8.5 ounces/240 grams); 1 skein, shown in Zinnia. Or 630 yards/580 meters of sport weight yarn.

18” wide and 79” long, blocked

Needles
US 7 4.50 mm and US 8 5.00 mm needles

Gauge
18 Stitches and 26 Rows = 4”/10 cm in pattern stitch, blocked.
