“COMBINING STRANDED knitting and a textured pattern, my tile-inspired design uses black and white for a bold effect,” says Emma Vining. “I am particularly fascinated by the way a design can be tessellated over a series of tiles - it is only when a number of tiles are put together that you see the full effect of the pattern. My diamonds and diagonals pattern uses this principle to build up the black and white border.”
Emma has knitted her jumper in John Arbon’s Knit By Numbers DK, a Falklands merino yarn that comes in an astonishing 109 shades.
