Tarquin Junior
This top-down saddle-shoulder Henley is a child version of my adult sweater of the same name. Just like its adult counterpart, it begins with two seeded ribbed shoulder saddles that are worked from the neck to the armhole. Stitches for the upper back are picked up from the edges of these saddles, with extra stitches cast on between them for the back neck. The upper back is worked in stockinette stitch in rows to the base of the armholes.
Stitches are then picked up along the other side of each saddle for the front, which is also worked in rows to the base of the armholes, with the front neck and placket shaped along the way. The lower body is joined and worked in rounds to the lower edge, decorated with seeded ribs along the sides and a single seeded rib column extending from the front placket.
Stitches for the sleeve caps are picked up around the armholes and are shaped with short-rows, then the sleeves are worked in rounds to the cuffs. The seeded ribbed pattern on the sleeves continues organically from the ribs on the saddles.
The hem, cuffs, and neckband are all worked in a simple k3, p1 rib.
