TATU (Try A Toe Up) Sock
“This pattern was designed to tempt a sock knitter who has yet to make a toe-up into giving it a try. It is a fairly quick knit in sport weight yarn, and will be fun…just you wait and see!”
The pattern is written assuming the use of two circular needles, but could be adapted to other needle types.
The cuff is knit in a texture (charted) pattern as shown, or in a 3 x 1 rib. The height of the sock is up to the knitter. I have made a short version using only 210 yards of yarn.
This is one of my ‘teaching patterns’. There are helpful notes on ‘slip and wraps’, ‘Kitchener Stitch Bind Off’, (my own slight variation of M1L & M1R), and links for Judy Becker’s Magic Cast On.
For help with the Kitchener stitch bind-off see a tutorial on my blog.
Special Note: I have also written a version of this sock made with fingering weight yarn which is available for $5.00 at my Ravelry store. It offers four sizes and three cuff choices.
