Tea & Honey
I wanted to make a tea cozy like an old victorian beehive (skep) and use buttons made by my friend Keely of Feet of Clay. I noticed there weren’t many crocheted hive cozies out there so her is my version. Should fit an average 6 cup teapot.
Abbreviations
ch - chain
hdc – half double crochet
hdc2tog – half double crochet 2 stitches together
bean – see special stitches below
rs – right side
sc – single crochet
sc2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together
sk - skip
st(s) – stitch (es)
blo – back loop only
ws – wrong side
yo – yarn over
Special Stitches
Bean stitch - insert hook into stitch, draw up a loop, yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, draw up a loop, yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, draw up a loop, yarn over, insert hook in same stitch draw up a loop (should have 8 stitches on hook); yarn over and pull through all loops, then chain 1 to close stitch.

2 balls of aran weight yarn approximately 109 yards (100m) each
Istex – Lettlopi 109 yards (100 m) 50g 100% Icelandic Wool
Colour: 1703
Size K (6.5 mm) crochet hook
Removable Stitch Marker(s)
Tapestry needle
Optional: 5 Bee shaped buttons (I used buttons made by Keely of Feet of Clay)
