This pattern is knit in the round, each body part is knit separately and then sewn together at the end. It can be knit at any gauge, from any yarn, as long as the gauge is tight enough to keep the stuffing inside. A bear knit at about 5spi will be about 3-4 inches tall, so no matter what the bear should come out very small.
The pattern will end up with a more creative name in the future.
