El chal Teorema tiene forma de triángulo asimétrico y basa su construcción en la unión de distintos triángulos y rectas que conforman una estructura con apariencia de secciones que encajan unas con otras. Implica la unión de piezas triangulares, paralelogramos y rectángulos que, al unirse, conforman un triángulo.

Recibe su nombre del concepto de teorema, “aquella proposición que afirma una tesis”, que en el mundo de la geometría plana ha implicado diversos descubrimientos para la construcción de triángulos.

Se inspira en el juego del tangrama, un puzzle chino cuyo origen exacto es desconocido, aunque se sabe que fue difundido masivamente en Europa occidental durante el siglo XVIII. El objetivo de este juego es es llegar a construir un cuadrado uniendo adecuadamente 7 piezas llamadas tans, aunque pueden construirse otras formas a partir de estas piezas.

Cada sección está hecha con motivos que evocan distintas formas geométricas, desde las más sencillas—como las líneas— a las más complejas, que al interconectarse unas con otras conforman un nuevo dibujo como ocurre con las piezas del tangrama

Teorema fue diseñado para la convocatoria: Tejer lo nuestro de Mister Wool, que busca rescatar los hilados propios del territorio chileno y ponerlos en valor.

Fue tejido, específicamente con lana merino de la Patagonia chilena, en una calidad más rústica, lo que le da calidez al tejido y resalta las texturas propias del diseño.

Es un chal en talla única, que se teje en plano con hilado de grosor fingering en tres colores, pero que permite explorar otras opciones de calidades de hilado y grosores que generarán otros efectos y darán otras dimensiones a la prenda.

Este diseño está tejido por secciones desde arriba hacia abajo. Las secciones se construyen por separado y se unen dejando puntos en espera y levantándolos cuando toca comenzar con una nueva. Utiliza aumentos y disminuciones para ir logrando su forma triangular; junto con diferentes puntos que dan textura a cada sección.

Para realizar el Chal Teorema, necesitarás 3 madejas (cada una de un color) de lana merino fingering (100 grs = 400 mts). Yo utilicé Farmer’ s Wool de Mister Wool en:

o C1: Color Danza (morado oscuro), 400 mts en 100 grs,.
o C2: Color Skull(gris), 320 mts en 80 grs.
o C3: Color Pensamiento (lila), 320 mts en 80 grs.

Te encontrarás con un patrón muy atractivo y dinámico de tejer. Incorpora varias técnicas y podrás ir jugando con el contraste de colores.

Si bien el patrón utiliza algunas técnicas que quizás no conozcas como la del Mosaico, te encontrarás con instrucciones claras y prácticas con las que podrás fácilmente aprender.

The Teorema Shawl is an asymmetrical triangle and bases its construction on the union of different triangles and straight lines that make up a structure with the appearance of sections that fit together. It involves the union of triangular pieces, parallelograms and rectangles that, when joined, make up a triangle.

It gets its name from the concept of theorem, “that proposition that affirms a thesis”, which in the world of plane geometry has involved various discoveries for the construction of triangles. It is inspired by the tangram game, a Chinese puzzle whose exact origin is unknown, although it is known that it was massively spread in Western Europe during the 18th century. However, at that time it was already a very popular game in China. The objective of this game is to build a square by properly joining 7 pieces called “tans”, although other shapes can be built from these pieces.

Each section is made with motifs that evoke different geometric shapes, from the simplest—such as lines—to the most complex, which when interconnected with each other form a new drawing, just as it happens with the pieces of the tangram

Teorema was designed for the call: “Tejer lo nuestro” from Mister Wool, which seeks to rescue the yarns of the Chilean territory and value them. It was worked, with merino wool from Chilean Patagonia, in a more rustic quality, which gives warmth to the fabric and highlights the textures of the design.

It is a one size shawl, knitted flat with fingering weight in three colors, but which allows exploring other options of yarn qualities and weights that will generate other effects and give other dimensions to the garment.

This design is knitted top-down, in sections. The sections are worked separately and are joined by leaving stiches waiting and picking them up when it’s time to start a new one. Use increases and decreases to achieve its triangular shape; along with different stitches that give texture to each section.

To make the Teorema Shawl, you will need 3 skeins (each of a different color) of fingering merino wool (100 grs = 400 mts). I used Mister Wool’s Farmer’s Wool on:

o C1: Dance Color (dark purple), 400 meters in 100 grs.
o C2: Color Skull (grey), 320 meters in 80 grs.
o C3: Pansy Color (lilac), 320 meters in 80 grs.

You will find a very attractive and dynamic pattern of knitting. It incorporates several techniques and you can play with the contrast of colors.

Although the pattern uses some techniques that you may not know such as Mosaic, you will find clear and practical instructions with which you can easily learn.
