Are you looking for a simple super bulky hat pattern? Or a pattern you can customize very easily? Or a quick and rewarding knit? If so, this pattern is for you.

This hat works up super quickly with huge yarn and large needles, with 8mm for the ribbing and 9mm for the rest. You’ll need 8mm and 9mm circular needles or DPNs for the body of the hat, plus a set of four 9mm DPNs for the decreasing. Magic loop is an option but I recommend double pointed needles for the small circumference.
It has a one inch ribbed brim and then is worked in simple stockinette to the end.

This hat was originally knit for my cousin and good friend Anna. She requested it and I knit it! The larger blue hat is for Anna and the smaller one I sold at a craft fair. Both were knit with two skeins of Lion Brand Hometown USA Tweeds, colorway Key Largo Tweed.
The first photo is of another hat I knit with Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick Stripes, colorway Hudson Bay. I added a square wooden button from Walmart. More details can be found on the project page.
