The Abraham Number Socks! (White Christmas Inspired)

Christmas is a wonderful time of year in the Almon household; every Thanksgiving, we put up our Christmas decorations, have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, and watch the 1954 Irving Berlin classic, White Christmas. We’ve watched the movie so many times that renditions of its show-stopping numbers can be heard in the house year-round. This year, we thought we’d show our love for this movie by releasing a four-pattern White Christmas inspired collection.
These socks are inspired by the Abraham number, the fastest-paced number in the whole movie, where Vera-Ellen taps her toes off in an amazing bright yellow dress. The foot features a small bow design, inspired by the bow Vera wears in her hair, the leg features purl bands similar to the bands around the waist of Vera’s dress, and the short, rolled cuff is inspired by the rolled neck on her dress. Together, they form a wonderful pair of anklets, perfect to keep any tapper’s toes warm.
So grab your tap shoes, play that music, and let’s get knitting!

These socks are knit using the magic loop method (although the purchaser could easily adapt it for two circulars or double points).
This pattern has instructions for toe-up socks, as well as chart and written instructions for all sizes.
Thank you so much to everyone involved in the creation of White Christmas, and for inspiring people for over sixty years. ❤
Judy’s Magic Cast On and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off are used in this pattern.
The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, knit 1 below (k1b), knit through the back loop (ktbl), M1R, M1L, and wrap and turns (W+T). In addition, we have a video tutorial for the shadow wrap technique of W+T for short rows.
This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart forms for 56 stitch, 64 stitch, and 72 stitch socks.
Thank you so much to my amazing test knitters: Andrea (angeiship), Ann, (roocmc), Ashleah (a1dawen), Julia (4jewels4), Kimberly (Napiersknits), and Tracy (tmangil)! ❤
Pattern was tech edited by the phenomenal Rachel (porpoise)! ❤
