The Ashton Cowl is the companion cowl to the Ashton Hat (also in my Ravelry store). Like the hat, it makes a great pattern for beginners who want to try their hand at cables. It incorporates two subtle cable designs that creates a warm and classic looking cowl. Also, it is a one skein project as written, using up almost all the yarn (which is always satisfying to me).

The pattern is for a one-size-fits-all cowl, but instructions are given on how to reduce or increase the size of the cowl to whatever you need, whether it’s for a baby or child. The given pattern should fit most adults.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
You will need to know how to knit in the round on circular needles, and how to knit and purl. Instructions are given in the pattern on how to complete the cable stitches, though it also might be useful to be familiar with cables stitches already.

Suggest yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease in Wheat.

Needle size: 4.5mm, 16 inch circular needles
