Bravely sacrificing her freedom to save her father, Belle is initially the Beast’s prisoner. As she and the Beast get to know each other, the relationship begins to change, becoming friendly and then romantic. The turning point in their story is also one of the most famous sequences in the movie: the waltz scene in the grand ballroom of the Beast’s castle. Belle in her famous yellow dress and the Beast in a royal blue dinner jacket dance across the gilded floor while the camera pans around them, taking in the elaborately decorated walls and gorgeous painted ceiling. The scene is set to the Academy Award®-winning song, “Beauty and the Beast,” which describes the deepening relationship between the two main characters as they start to fall in love.

Worthy of any princess, this stunning lace shawl takes its inspiration from Belle’s iconic golden ballroom dress with its graceful layers of elegantly ruched fabric. The interesting lace pattern mimics the undulating shapes of Belle’s dress, and to further reflect the special occasion, the lace is embellished with sparkling beads (about 410 6/0 4mm seed beads, silver-lined crystal, optional).

A generously sized rectangle, this shawl is worked seamlessly from a provisional cast on at the center down to both edges. The lace itself is easy to memorize and uses only simple yarn overs and basic decreases (CHART ONLY), making this project feasible even for a newer lace knitter.
