For accessibility this pattern is available in my etsy.com shop. This pattern combines the long color changes of “cake and ice cream” yarn with a nicely textured stitch pattern. The texture gives interest to the colors, while keeping the knitting simple and fun. Dozens of possible peg combinations are given for you to choose from. Customize the size, gauge, and even the stitch pattern to your needs. Be sure to see the tip in pattern notes for an easy way to keep track of your knit/purl sequences.
Loom: a 1/2 inch, 3/8 inch small, 3/8 inch fine or 1/4 inch fine gauge loom that allows you to knit in the round, large enough to make a cowl with the circumference you desire. Dozens of possible peg counts are given in the pattern.
Yarn: weight appropriate to your loom, but a firm fabric is best. Suggested weights and amounts:
Caron Cakes aran: 1/2 inch gauge or 3/8 small gauge (1 skein)
Premier Sweet Roll aran: 1/2 gauge or 3/8 small gauge (2 skeins)
Lion Brand Ice Cream sport: 3/8 small, 3/8 fine or 1/4 inch fine gauge (1 - 1.5 skeins)
Size: circumference will depend on your loom – a larger loom will have narrower stripes with more frequent color changes. If you prefer a smaller cowl, you will have wider stripes with fewer color changes. An “extra-large” hat loom will make a cozy neck hugging cowl. A baby afghan or afghan loom will make a longer, shoulder wrapping cowl.

My patterns are low vision and screen reader accessible. The text is black, Arial and large print 24 point font. All of the directions are fully written out and no charts are relied on to complete the patterns. No italics are used. They are screen reader and tablet friendly.
