Construction
The sweater is knit mainly top-down with minimal seaming. You start by knitting the circular yoke flat in garter (using short-rows for shaping) and then seaming it together at the center back.
You then pick up stitches to knit the main body (straight, with 2-5 cm/1-2” positive ease and circular motifs in garter), and sleeves - you can choose from 2 options:
1) bishop
2) straight (slightly tapered)
The pattern also gives instructions on how to knit a decorative elbow patch in garter stitch (optional)

Materials and instruments

  • Yarn 250-380 g/ 8.8-13.4 oz or 1,150-1,750 m/1,260-1,915 yds of fingering weight yarn. The pattern was especially created for Glafira’s Yarn Feodosiia 100% Superfine Lambswool (230 m/251 yds in 50 g/1.8 oz), the sample was knit in color Vintage (028). You can use any other plump fingering weight yarn as substitute, but make sure to purchase yarn based on yardage and not weight, as most yarns are much denser than the original.

  • Needles 3.25 mm/US 3 on 60 cm/24” cable for the main body & sleeves and 3 mm/US 2.5 for the I-cord edging.

  • Notions: tapestry needle, crochet hook, stitch markers and some scrap yarn (better same weight, but contrast to the color of the main yarn, preferably rather slippery).

Gauge

The gauge is measured per 1010cm (44”) square on larger needles after blocking - both garter and stockinette are crucial for the fit

  • In garter stitch - 22 stitches by 23 garter ridges (46 rows);
  • In stockinette - 24 stitches by 38 rows.

Techniques used
